The solutions “micro-10 HP” and "micro-20" combine a flameless combustion microturbine with a heat pump as an ultra efficient gas heat pump. The microturbine produces up to 10 kWe (Micro-10) or 20 kWe (Micro- 20) of DC electricity and heat (35 kWth) through the clean combustion of natural gas, biogas or liquid fuels. The heat pump works with a natural refrigerant (R290) and DC powered compressors from the automobile industry. The solution offers a very efficient and novel capability when feeded by biogas as the flameless combustion ensures very low emissions while the novel microtubine produces electricity. The microturbine and the heat pump connect through a DC microgrid. The heat pump combines four separate refrigeration loops and exploits air renewable energy to produce up to 40 kWth of renewable heat or cool. The solution is very modular since multiple systems can be combined on the same microgrid to yield higher power.
